Mission:

The mission of the Frisbie School PTO is to partner with and to serve the school community through volunteerism and fiscal support in order to provide: enrichment and cultural opportunities that directly supplement the school’s curricular goals; extra-curricular community-building events for students, families and staff; and support to school staff as needs arise to benefit the teaching and learning process.

The PTO is able to fulfill this mission through annual membership dues, ongoing fundraising, community outreach, direct communication with school staff, and family involvement.

What We Do:

Some examples of PTO-sponsored community-building events include a back-to-school balloon arch and class photographs, an autumn carnival, Halloween trunk and pumpkin decorating contests, cookies with Santa, movie night, an annual Walk-a-Thon, and the bi-annual Scholastic Book Fair. Each year, the PTO sponsors a fifth grade commencement celebration as a farewell to our departing students and as a thank you to the families for their support during their time at Frisbie School. Our funds also support the production of the annual Kindergarten Play. The PTO organizes teacher and staff appreciation each year.

The PTO offsets a portion of the cost of off-campus field trips for all students, ensuring that destinations such as Camp Sloper remain possible. The PTO also sponsors in-school cultural programs throughout the school year. Grants are available to teachers and staff and have been used to support initiatives such as One Book: One School, to purchase classroom supplies, and to contribute to school-wide celebrations such as the Blue Ribbon Jambor”bee” and Summer Reading kick-off week. The PTO sets aside funds to support Frisbie families in need. Funds are also reserved for charitable contributions within the community.

Get Involved:

The PTO meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 in the Frisbie School Media Center. Meetings are an opportunity to stay up-to-date with school events, to share ideas and provide feedback, and to stay informed about curriculum, assessments, and school improvement. Families are encouraged to attend meetings as often as possible.
